The corps colours of the Royal New Zealand Army Medical Corps are ruby, purple navy, and gold. These colours are used in three equally sized horizontal panels on the corps belt, which is similar to the belt of the Royal Army Medical Corps. Although the origins of the colours remain obscure, the most acceptable explanation is that the:

• ruby represents blood
• purple navy preserved the colour and facings of the old uniform
• gold commemorates the Royal Assent to the formation of the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1898
