THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NURSING CORPS
BELT COLOURS - red, white and blue

OTHER INFORMATION

The Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps' corps belt is that of its sister Corps – Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps. It was adopted by the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, the predecessor to the Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps, when the former became affiliated with the British Corps on 17 May 1949.

It was Queen Alexandra's particular wish to present each member of her Corps with an identifying badge and ribbon. In its final form the badge and ribbon incorporated a cross similar to that of the Order of the Dannebrog – an ancient Danish order of chivalry. This was highly appropriate in view of Queen Alexandra's Danish origin. The ribbon is similar to that of the Danish order. The Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps belt has the same colours as the ribbon of the Danish badge, which is still worn by members of the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps.
